Volunteer Positions and Descriptions

Head Timer - Organizes the timers for each meet, and arranges back-up timing for all races. Responsible for scheduling changes and replacements for timers as necessary. This is a season-long position to be shared with other head-timer. Fulfills all volunteer commitments for the season.
Timers - Volunteers needed for both home and away meets. Times all races using a plunger or a stop watch. Two shifts per meet, first-half and second-half. Shifts are selected by the volunteer in advance. No experience required. Each shift counts for 1 of 6 volunteer commitments.
Lines up Volunteers - Needed for both home and away meets. Responsible for making sure all 8 and under swimmers are in line and ready for their heat. Two shifts per meet, first-half and second-half. Each shift counts as 1 of 6 volunteer commitments.
Floater - Available for miscellaneous assignments during home meets - see Check-in Coordinator, Head Timer, Snack Bar, and Meet Desk for possible assignments. Season long commitment during home meets. Must be prepared to stay for take-down if necessary. No experience required. Fulfills all volunteer commitments for the season.
Set-up Crew - A setup crew is needed for each of the home meets. Arrive at home meets 2 hours before the start of the meet. Help to set-up Colorado timing system, desks, folding chairs, PA system, speakers, touchpads, canopy tents, trash cans, etc. This is a season-long position with assignments scheduled by the crew lead. No experience required. Must attend meet set-up day in April. Fulfills all volunteers commitments for the season.
Takedown Crew - A takedown crew is needed for each of the home meets. Takedown team is responsible for packing everything up at the end of the meet including Colorado timing system, desks, folding chairs, PA system, speakers, touchpads, canopy tents, trash cans, etc. This is a season-long position with assignments scheduled by the crew lead. Approximately 1.5-2 hrs after meet. No experience required. Must attend meet set-up day in April. Fulfills all volunteers commitments for the season.
Snack Bar - A snack bar crew is needed for each of the home meets. Preparing, selling, and serving food and beverages during the meet. Scheduled in staggering shifts throughout the swim meet and may include set-up or take-down. Season long commitment. No experience required. Each shift counts for 1 of 6 volunteer commitments for the season.
Computer Lead (Trainee) - We are looking for an assistant that will work closely with the Computer Lead throughout the season, and eventually take over Computer Lead responsibilities for the Waterdevils . If you’re interested in taking on an important role and anticipate that you will have a Waterdevils swimmer for several years, this may be the job for you. You will learn directly from the Computer Lead everything about the swim team and swim meet software, setting up a meet on the computer, and running the computer desk. Season long commitment and beyond. Fulfills all volunteers commitments for the season.
Officials Lead - Referee Head referee for home meets, and responsible for working with all meet officials (referee, starter, and stroke and turn judges). This is a season-long position and will be shared with other referees. Requires knowledge of and interest in competitive swimming. Must attend training in April. Fulfills all volunteers commitments for the season.
Starter - Calls the swimmers to their mark, starts the race, and judges that the start was fair. Responsible for calling false starts. Season long commitment and will be shared with other timers. There is usually a different starter for the first and second-half of the meet. Must attend training in April. Fulfills all volunteers commitments for the season.
Stroke and Turn Judges - Monitors swimmers during races to ensure fair competition and compliance with rules for starting, swim strokes, turns, and finish. Judges are responsible for disqualifying swimmers for rule violations. Season long position to be shared with other judges. Requires knowledge of and interest in competitive swimming. Must attend training in April. Fulfills all volunteer commitments for the season.
Aquathon Assistant - Responsible for helping to organize the annual Aquathon fund raiser. Organizing time/date, advertisements, reminders, parent volunteers, and prizes for Aquathon. No experience necessary, but instructions and materials from previous years will be provided. Fulfills 3 of 6 volunteer commitments for the season.
